Miles K. Light, PhD
Dr. Light is research faculty at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He specializes in the field of Computable General Equilibrium economic modeling. As an economist, Dr. Light offers expert analysis to policymakers -- relaying the economic costs and benefits of wide-ranging public policy decisions. He has developed computational models to assess the impact of Climate Change committments under the Kyoto Protocol, assessed economic effects of Bilateral FTA agreements between the USA and Peru, Colombia, Ecuador and Bolivia, and determined how best to reform tax-regimes in former CIS countries like Mongolia and Armenia.
Over the past 12 months his projects included: Impact of the Doha Trade Rounds for Egypt; National Accounts overhaul for Kyrgyzstan; Tax Reform policy in Uzbekistan; Drug Utilization Review for Medicaid in USA; economic consequences of Dam Spillage in the Western USA; and fisheries policy for costal settlements in the United States.
For over 10 years, Dr. Light has been teaching or assisting seminars and courses related to CGE modeling. In addition to his research at the University of Colorado, Dr. Light’s clients include the World Bank, UNDP, USAID, Government of Colombia, Secretariat General of the Andean Community, US Bureau of Reclamation, US National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, and Colorado’s Health Policy and Financing Division.
